Job description
We seek an enthusiastic candidate to join the Mass Spectrometry team of Philochem with the opportunity to start an industrial doctorate program in the drug discovery field. The team focus is the development and application of Mass Spectrometry-based techniques for the drug discovery programs of the company. The candidate will learn and apply state of art mass spectrometry methods from small molecule quantification in biological matrices, biodistribution evaluation, target identification, biding confirmation, proteomics studies, and mechanism of action confirmation. The candidate will also have the possibility to perform organic synthesis and biophysical analytical procedures to complete dedicated projects.
Philochem laboratories are in Zurich and the PhD program can be carried out in collaboration with a European University.
The candidate will be trained to:
- Use and maintenance of state of art mass spectrometry instrumentation (Orbitrap)
- Design, plan, and implement scientific projects related to the R&D drug discovery programs of Philochem
- Scientific presentation and communication.
- Write scientific articles and publish on peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Minimum requirements
- Master’s degree in chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmacy, or related disciplines.
- Good knowledge of analytical instrumentations, techniques, and data interpretation. (i.e., HPLC, Mass Spectrometry) (Hands on instruments experience is a plus)
- Good knowledge of data analysis and editing Software (i.e., Excel, Word, Power point, Prism, R, Python, Illustrator).
- Experience in performing literature searches using chemistry databases (PubMed, SciFinder, Reaxys) and in applying the results to solve analytical challenges in the lab.
- Fluency in oral and written English.
