Philochem AG is the R&D department of Philogen and it is located in Zurich. Philogen-Siena focuses on product optimisation/production according to GMP standards and on clinical trial investigations.

Job description:

Philochem AG, is seeking a highly motivated GROUP LEADER IN BISPECIFIC ANTIBODIES to join our R&D team.  Bispecific antibodies are an important class of biopharmaceuticals, and our team has a strong interest in developing therapeutic antibodies for cancer therapy. The scientist will contribute to the development and characterization of therapeutic prototypes in support of our preclinical discovery research.  The successful candidate should have an excellent background and working experience in phage display technology, molecular biology, protein purification, and mammalian cell culture techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Isolate novel antibodies using Philochem’s phage display libraries
  • Generate therapeutic prototypes for pre-clinical assessment
  • Lead a group of junior scientists, including doctoral students
  • Perform all laboratory work related to antibody development and contribute to the writing of technical reports
  • Participate in multiple simultaneous projects
  • Training and support of research associates and doctoral students
  • Present scientific results internally and at international conferences

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge in antibody phage display technology (experience with fully human synthetic antibody phage libraries is a plus)
  • Extensive experience in cloning and expression of recombinant proteins in several expression systems (e.g., mammalian and bacterial expression)
  • Excellent molecular biology skills, including ELISA, SPR, FACS, and IF
  • Experience in early-stage bispecific antibodies development
  • Certificate of animal experimentation in rodents (LTK Module 1 or comparable)
  • Experience in conducting in vivo experiments in pre-clinical models of cancer
  • Excellent publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Accurate data analysis and recording to ensure full traceability (experience in R programming or similar software is a plus)
  • Excellent analytical skills and good attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team in a task-oriented manner
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong proficiency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken

Preferred:

  • 1-3 years of professional experience in a pharmaceutical company
  • Background education in pharmaceutical sciences or similar fields (e.g., Pharmacy or Medicine). Candidates who hold a Ph.D. or are approaching the end of their Ph.D. are encouraged to apply
  • International experience and exposure to other laboratory environments
  • Experience in process and project management
  • Teaching skills and capable of leading a team
  • Experience in clinical development, including First in human clinical dose selection
